Husband and Wife Team up to Bring Help and Hope to Those in Need

Robert and Jennifer Rice team up to provide air transport for humanitarian relief and to support Christian missions in remote areas. Video and presentation to be held at the Ann Arbor Airport Terminal Building on Wednesday, March 20, 2002.

Robert and Jennifer Rice saw an opportunity to work as a team, doing what they like best, helping the poor by providing air transport for humanitarian relief and support of Christian missions in remote areas.

Last year the Rices spent six months in the remote savannahs of the North Amazon basin with their four-month-old daughter, Genna. While Robert flew a Cessna U206 providing air ambulance for the poor and air transport for medical volunteers, Jennifer cared for their daughter and worked as a tutor, helping illiterate children learn to read.

The Rices are teaming-up again with a planned trip to Guatemala, this fall. They will provide similar services in the remote Ixcan region of that country. Wings of Hope, in St. Louis, Missouri is helping to provide a Cessna U206 for use in that country. Funding is in short supply and donations are desperately needed.

The Rices will be making a presentation to the public, with a special appeal to pilots, at the Ann Arbor Airport Terminal Building on Wednesday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m. The presentation last about an hour and will include a short video describing the use of aviation in remote areas. The will Rices also be speaking about their experiences working in Guyana and their plans for their work in Guatemala.

While in the field, Robert authored a book containing a collection of stories relating to the work of a humanitarian bush pilot. That book will be available at the presentation. Attendance is free.

If you are a member of a civic or Christian organization in the Ann Arbor area, you may contact the Rices, who will be happy to present to any organization with similar goals.
