Fred Hampton Jr. Begins Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win tour for Hip Hop Activism Tour will also feature Mutulu Olugabala (M1) of Dead Prez

Know Thy Self Productions today announced that Fred Hampton Jr., a falsely imprisoned revolutionary who now exposes brutal prison conditions and Mutulu Olugabala, a member of the political rap team Dead Prez, have come together to give a revolutionary voice to hip hop culture. The Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win tour will engage young people in a critical discussion of Hip Hop culture.

Due to the tremendous success and enthusiastic response from youth, student activists, and community leaders Know Thy Self Productions, today announced, that the Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win, will continue through the end of June.
Dates are open and we are available for all forms of media interviews. Former Political Prisoner Fred Hampton Jr., whom was falsely imprisoned exposes brutal prison conditions, and Mutulu Olugabala, a member of the political rap team Dead Prez, have come together to give a revolutionary voice to hip hop culture. The Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win tour will engage young people in a critical discussion of the Prison Industrial Complex, Political Prisoners and the need to use Hip Hop culture as a tool of resistance.

By introducing new ideas, outlining a roadmap to progress and challenging points of view, the tour is meant to unite the youth voices within the Hip Hop nation. Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win will address, through the elements of Hip Hop culture, issues which effect Black and Latino/a communities, such as, the prison industrial complex, the struggle to free U.S. Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War, and the need for Black and Latino/a youth to reclaim their culture and use it as a toll to educate, organize, and mobilize their communities.

Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win is a 3-month tour of colleges, universities, and community organizations. This three-month revolutionary road tour commenced at Northeastern University in Boston, MA on Thursday, February 28, 2002 and recommences on April 6th, 2002 >

About Fred Hampton Jr.
Fred Hampton Jr., was released from prison in September 2001 after being falsely imprisoned for nine years. Fred Hampton Jr. who became an articulate and outspoken political organizer as Local President of the National People's Democratic Uhuru Movement (NPDUM) in Chicago, was framed by the same Chicago Police Department and other law enforcement agencies that assassinated his father, Fred Hampton Sr. on December 4th 1969. Since his release, Hampton has continued to expose the brutal prison conditions that exist, and organizes to release U.S. political prisoners, prisoners of war, and prisoners of conscious. A revolutionary artist, Fred Hamptons poignant, raw poetry has been presented at Some Like it Black, Essence of Life, Marcus Garvey Hall, schools, churches, and community events.

About Mutulu Olugabala/M1
Mutulu Olugabala is evidence of the resurgence of political action in the Afrikan (Black) community. Olugabala is a member of the political rap team Dead Prez. He also organized and became the local president of the Brooklyn Chapter of the National Peoples Democratic Uhuru Movement. In addition, Olugabala has worked with Friends and Family of Mumia-Abu Jamal and participates in the annual Black August Celebration. Olugabala has been featured in The Source, Vibe, XXL, Stress, Murder Dog, Blaze, and The Village Voice.

Rosa A. Clemente is an Afro-Boricua freedom fighter, scholar-activist and journalist. With an earned B.A. from the University of Albany and a Masters of Professional Studies in Africana Studies at Cornell University, Clementes academic work has been dedicated to researching national liberation struggles inside the United States. Clemente is co-host and producer of WBAIs Pacifica Radio, Where We Live." She was recently named by Red Eye magazine as one of 25 top Hip-Hop activist to look out for in 2002."
