WhiteTown Software Provides Highest Performance Database Solution with the Release of CDBF for Windows

An Award-Winning Tool for Business and Office is Now Available to Windows Users

May 1, 2002 - WhiteTown Software announced this month the release of CDBF for Windows. This is the first Windows version of this award-winning database tool that offers much of the high-end database tools' functionality for a small fraction of their cost.

CDBF for Windows is a powerful database viewer and editor that lets individuals and business users access databases directly without programming via the familiar Windows interface. This small and handy utility offers everything you need for working with database files and even more: one of the reviewers for Ziff-Davis Software Library noted that the program seems to be overloaded with features - so many of them are available in this seemingly simple tool.

"CDBF is very much better than anything else I tried, including the high-end database packages," says David Rowell, a software manager for Soema Inc. "The basic editing features are much easier to use than any other database editor, and the defaults regarding file locking and code pages are also more intelligently defined. The people at WhiteTown Software seem to understand the needs of developers and administrators far better than the competition".

Unlike other similar tools CDBF doesnt separate the viewing and editing modes: when you are viewing the table, you can always click on a field you want to modify and make all necessary changes. The program supports all kinds of DBF files (dBase III, dBase IV, FoxPro, Visual FoxPro) and their memo fields. You can export the database tables to text files, DBF files, MS Excel format (.xls), Clipper and FoxPro source files (.prg) and SQL Server scripts (.sql). Many of CDBF features are implemented via the flexible plugins system, so the developers can easily add new functionality by simply placing their DLLs into the CDBF folder (the distribution package contains several plugins including the OEM/ANSI converter and the duplicate records cleaner).

CDBF for Windows features a built-in visual report designer. This tool lets users quickly and easily design professionally-looking reports based on the database information.

Other CDBF features include:
        Sorting and filtering the records
        Ability to edit memo-fields
        Ability to print database tables
        Powerful search and replace
        Automatic OEM/ANSI character set detection
Cutting, copying, pasting and erasing data in selected cells
Exporting, deleting, recalling and summing the selected records and more.
