SORBA Medical Systems, Inc. Receives FDA Clearance
for the Steorra Non-Invasive Hemodynamic Monitor
Brookfield, WI, February 19, 2001 -- SORBA Medical Systems, Inc. announced that it has received clearance from the FDA on its new instrument, the Steorra.
The Steorra impedance cardiograph (ICG) has been developed expressly for the clinical environment to help guide patient treatment and care. The Steorra encompasses exclusive RTea patented signal processing technology, which provides reliable and reproducible hemodynamic data under a wide variety of patient conditions and monitoring environments. The RTea process focuses on addressing the signal to noise challenges of ICG, and results in a more reliable and reproducible measurement of SV and related parameters. This powerful technology derives a clean ICG waveform from a relatively un-analyzable raw impedance signal.
We are excited to be entering the clinical market," stated Jill Barney, President of SORBA Medical Systems, Inc. RTeaTM has been the foundation of our success with ICG, and the SteorraTM incorporates this powerful, well proven signal processing algorithm into a sleek, compact patient monitor. The static display of the ICG waveform allows the discerning clinician an opportunity to assess the mechanical function of the heart. It is the ICG waveform, along with the calculated stroke volume, cardiac output and related parameters, that make the SteorraTM a unique and powerful tool for guiding hemodynamic management."
SORBA Medical Systems, Inc. is a privately-held medical instrument company that designs, develops and sells non-invasive hemodynamic monitors. The proprietary RTea signal processing technology is utilized in all SORBA Medical Systems Impedance Cardiographs to identify and capture the cardiac event signal that is hidden within the impedance changes caused by respiration and movement noise. SORBA is located in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
