Irish director, Tom Collins, to attend Irish Screen premiere of TEENAGE KICKS - UNDERTONES rockumentary
Irish director, Tom Collins, will attend the March 15th premiere of his rockumentary, TEENAGE KICKS, about the Irish rock band The Undertones.
(PRWEB) February 24, 2002 - March 1, 2002 -- The Irish Screen, a non-profit arts organization promoting Irish cinema in the U.S., is pleased to present TEENAGE KICKS, a rock documentary about the seminal Irish rock band, The Undertones, on March 15th during New Irish Cinema Week at the American Cinematheque.
Creators of snarling, aggro-fueled punk anthems like "My Perfect Cousin," and "Teenage Kicks," the Undertones (Feargal Sharkey, brothers Damian and John ONeill, Michael Bradley and Billy Doherty) were one of Irelands greatest rock groups, and certainly the finest to emerge from the dead-end streets of Derry in the mid-1970s.
Mixing interviews with the band members and rare concert footage of the Undertones at their peak, TEENAGE KICKS is a raucous portrait of "a band that sounded beautiful, coming from an ugly place." A selection of the 2001 London Film Festival.
TEENAGE KICKS' director, Tom Collins, will attend the screening and do a Q&A following the film.
TEENAGE KICKS is presented in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann - The Irish Film Board and the Irish Screen at the American Cinematheque in Hollywood, California. From March 13-20, New Irish Cinema Week at the American Cinematheque will highlight the best new works of Irish filmmakers.
