BANGitUP Partners Collaborate To E-Enable Construction

BANGitUP.com, Reed Business Information, marketboomer.com, Alacrity Technologies join forces to create building industry solution.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sydney, NSW, AUSTRALIA Building supplies and trades network BANGitUP has just passed the $2 million mark for orders made since its launch in September 2000. The achievement of this milestone comes as BANGitUP develops an e-commerce prototype in partnership with marketboomer, CADX, Alacrity and Reed Business Information.

The new e-commerce model will enable both competitive quoting and purchase by preference of building materials, with access to the system also available by phone, WAP and PDA, ensuring builders working onsite or from a mobile office can order supplies quickly and efficiently. The system is modelled on existing e-commerce marketplaces operated by marketboomer in the hospitality sector, including Loadingdock.com.au for the TAB, Six Continents and Voyager Hotels.

Reed Business Information is providing comprehensive content for the new e-marketplace by opening up its directory containing over 3,000 suppliers and 15,000 product listings, accessible via the Info-Link Building Classification System, which will be integrated as the content 'backbone of the system.

CADX is providing a SME builder friendly version of their successful project and document management solution with Alacrity Technologies providing a mobile phone enabled interface.

The benefit of BANGitUPs solutions is that the service provision costs are aggregated across all suppliers, reducing the risk and investment required," Scott Maxworthy, BANGitUP Director, said. The solutions are also structured to reward innovators in the market." These developments will drive electronic communication between designers, builders, suppliers, clients and government. This in turn will generate demand for suppliers and the industry to invest more heavily in e-commerce technology sooner rather than later," Scott said.

While BANGitUP has finalised its strategy for migrating its existing members -- now over 900 builders and 400 suppliers -- to the new system, other initiatives, including a totally integrated design to payment solution and BANGERREP sales program, are still in the pipeline.
