Netcentric Launches Two New Lychee Content Management Products
Netcentric announces the release of Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition of the Lychee® Content Management System
Web content and information management providers, Netcentric (Europe) Ltd (Netcentric"), have announced two new editions of its flagship Lychee Version 4.1.1 Web Content Management System. Lychee Professional Edition has been designed to assist small to medium companies, while Lychee Enterprise Edition provides unlimited scalability to medium and large size organisations. Both Editions provide non-technical content owners the ability to build, manage and edit any multimedia content on their web site(s).
Lychee is designed to empower non-technical personnel within organisations to allow them to manage and update content on corporate web sites, eliminating the need for technical knowledge of complex web languages such as HTML. It also enables companies to take control of their web publishing strategies and make full use of their web sites as part of an integrated marketing programme, rather than a static brochure-ware approach.
"The multi-national corporate end of the market is well catered for with CMS. Small to large organisations have not typically been able to afford good quality, powerful content management solutions until now," said Phillip Campbell, CEO of Netcentric. "Our two new editions of Lychee Professional and Enterprise will provide companies and organisations throughout Europe with a content management solution that is both within their budgets and flexible enough to cater to their specific needs. Now, regardless of size, companies can benefit from a superior content management system at an affordable price."
Netcentric Launches Two New Products
Lychee Professional Edition is aimed at one to ten concurrent users and provides entry-level functionality. Users are able to directly upload and post web content without the need for intervention from IT support or a trained Web specialist. Professional Edition works by combining content (text, graphics etc) with templates ("look and feel") through a simple-to-use interface and provides a cost-effective way of maintaining a dynamic web presence. Professional Edition is a secure, user-friendly management tool, ideal for small companies that do not have access to in-house IT departments or HTML skills.
Lychee Enterprise Edition bridges the gap between web professionals, marketing teams and other departments that need to contribute to the company web site, allowing both Web Masters and non-technical personnel to update company Internets, Intranets or Extranets. In addition to a fully featured content management system the Enterprise Edition includes XML-based open APIs enabling easy application integration. This gives greater flexibility for large organisations to implement Enterprise Application Information and Corporate Portals.
Enterprise Edition extensive functionality includes:
| | - Workflow - for approving and managing various drafts of documents to determine which documents are in what state of approval at any given time, ensuring accuracy of published content.
- Versioning - a sophisticated versioning component that ensures that deletions, roll-forwards and roll-backs are all automatically catered for so that configurations of versions are always correct.
- Users and Permissions - enabling individual user permissions or a set of permissions associated with a group.
- Link Checking - ensures that if a document is deleted then any links that point to the document are automatically reset.
- Management and Administration Tools - a sophisticated suite of Management and Administration tools to manage templates, page structures, authorisation levels, navigation and licence information.
- LDAP Support
- Dreamweaver Integration

Lychee is developed entirely in Java (J2EE) and uses XML (eXtensible Markup Language). The entire Lychee functionality is accessible from any Java2-enabled browser anywhere in the world via the Internet. The benefits of its thin-client/server architecture mean that the system administration overhead of running Lychee is minimal. This becomes particularly important in organisations where large numbers of users might require access to Lychee.
Netcentric Launches Two New Products
The modern and open architecture of Lychee also incorporates the facility to manage the new technologies of WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and pervasive devices such as the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and iDTV (Interactive digital Television).
Lychee is an open and portable application and operates on 90 per cent of the world's web servers running operating systems such as Windows NT, 2000, XP and Unix. The Lychee Content Repository is accessed through a JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) layer and the actual Content Repository itself may therefore be based on any JDBC-enabled RDBMS (Relational Database Management System). Netcentric has tested and warrants the latest Database versions of MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle and IBM DB2 providing flexibility, scalability and high performance.
Pricing and Availability
Lychee Professional & Enterprise Editions are both currently available. The price for Lychee Professional Edition starts at 14,900 and Lychee Enterprise Edition starts at 29,900.
