Titanium Corporation and Dalhousie University Advance Major Project with Launch of Pilot Plant

Halifax, Nova Scotia, February 21, 2002 -- Titanium Corporation Inc. (CDNX: TIC), through its partnering effort with the Minerals Engineering Centre of Dalhousie University, launched a small pilot testing plant today that could prove a giant heavy minerals recovery step for Nova Scotia.

This new facility, located at Dalhousie University, will be used to further confirm the economic feasibility of producing high grade/high value titanium dioxide feedstock from the heavy mineral concentrates Titanium Corporation proposes to extract from its 70 square kilometers claims area along the Shubenacadie River. This testing, which will generate a processing flowchart, is expected to be completed in about six months.

This is truly a major milestone in the affairs of our company," said Titanium Corporation Chairman George Elliott speaking to an audience of government, university and community representatives. We feel especially fortunate to be able to work with the highly qualified staff and students of the Minerals Engineering Centre. We are confident that under the direction of Jim Reeves, our Director of Metallurgy, we will establish the precise flowchart required to consistently and cost-effectively produce high grade/high value titanium dioxide feedstock for the pigment industry. By having this plant we will be able to invite representatives of the worlds major pigment producers to see, first hand, our production capabilities."

Dr. Carl Breckenridge, Vice President, Research, for Dalhousie University, said, we welcome this opportunity for our mining and metallurgical engineering staff and students to carry out research on state-of-the-art equipment." Dr. Breckenridge added, We see this project as an important means of attracting additional and potentially revenue-producing minerals research and testing opportunities for the university."

The Honourable Ernest Fage, Minister of Natural Resources, acknowledged the innovative partnership between one of our finest universities and the private sector. The government of Nova Scotia supports mineral development as long as it is economically feasible and environmentally sustainable," said Minister Fage. We believe the work being done at this pilot plant has the potential to provide new revenues and jobs for Nova Scotians."

During a tour of the pilot plant, Dr. George Kipouros of the Minerals Engineering Centre, explained that more than 98 per cent of the sand processed in the pilot plant would be unaffected by the treatment and could be recycled immediately. The balance would be processed using only electricity and sophisticated magnets, but no chemicals, to liberate the titanium-bearing minerals." According to Kipouros, this material will be purified to a grade of feedstock that commands a premium price from pigment manufacturers and it is the specifications of this process that will be confirmed through tests in this pilot plant. The pilot plant process can then be scaled up to an industrial size process."
