CEREBELLUM TAKES PRINCIPALS BACK TO SCHOOL
Cerebellum Teams with NAESP to Produce Professional Series For PBS YOU
The Cerebellum Corporation, the award-winning producer of educational programming, including Standard Deviants School, which is broadcast daily on PBS YOU, has partnered with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to create Principals: Leaders and Learners. This seven-part series will explore the changing role and responsibilities of the modern school principal. This series is slated for broadcast in April 2002, in time for the NAESP national conference. Principals: Leaders and Learners" will premiere on PBS YOU as part of a new programming block devoted to professional development for educators.
Principals: Leaders and Learners will document real stories of elementary school principals at work, in both the school and the community. The first episode, The Principal in the 21st Century, explores the principals changing role as a school manager and key instructional leader. The remaining six episodes document the daily activities of three, actual principals - interspersed with relevant interviews - as they interact with students, teachers, parents and community leaders on location in their respective schools. Enjoyable and engaging, this series will dispel principal stereotypes and offer practical lessons about achieving success.
NAESP has secured Education World as an underwriter for the project. Designed to help teachers integrate the internet into the classroom, Education World (www.Educationworld.com) is an online resource guide with reviews, articles, lesson plans, teacher profiles and a search engine.
Chip Paucek, Cerebellum Co-CEO comments, Were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the NAESP. As an educational media company, were excited to expand our focus to include educational professional development. The NAESP understands that improving education in America has to take place on many levels. Principals: Leaders and Learners is exactly the kind of programming we want to include on the new PBS YOU programming block - professional development materials designed for our nations principals, administrators and teachers. Children will learn to the best of their ability when educators teach to the best of their ability."
NAESP Deputy Executive Director Dr. Deborah Reeve added, Cerebellum shares the NAESPs commitment to the education of our children. Principals: Leaders and Learners presents an excellent opportunity to speak directly to our members, and through PBS YOU, well be able to reach parents and students who may not fully understand principals role in the school and the community. We believe this will be a very fruitful partnership."
