Plymouth Business Forum Offers Practical Solutions for Small Businesses


DATELINE: PLYMOUTH, MA; ISSUED FEBRUARY 25, 2002 . . .
"Surviving and Thriving in a Changing Economy", an afternoon of business seminars, will be presented by the Plymouth County Development Council on March 27th from 12:00 - 5:30, at the Sheraton Plymouth, located at 180 Water Street in Plymouth. A kick-off luncheon will feature Robert Reich, former U.S. Secretary of Labor and Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate, as keynote speaker.

The afternoon will conclude with a networking cocktail reception beginning at 4:30 p.m.

In an uncertain economy, small businesses must confront serious challenges with limited resources and personnel. "Surviving and Thriving in a Changing Economy" brings expert and practical advice in a symposium that will address the critical issues facing small businesses today.

Luncheon speaker Robert Reich has written more than 200 articles on the global economy, the changing nature of work, and the centrality of human capital. Currently serving as a professor of social and economic policy at Brandeis University, Reich is also a consultant to many governments and corporations.

The afternoon program will consist of two breakout sessions featuring panel discussions specifically designed to provide answers to questions from the audience. Panel presentations will include:

"Selling Made Simple" - Proven strategies to boost your company's sales

"Marketing That Motivates" - Effective ways to communicate your message and reach your target market

"Finance By the Numbers" - Financial strategies especially suited to small businesses

"Help From the Commonwealth" - State assistance and resources available to help small businesses succeed and grow

"Surviving and Thriving in a Changing Economy" is being presented by the Plymouth County Development Council and is co-sponsored by WATD-FM as a service to South Shore business people.
