ACTIVE6 RELEASES THE 1.3 VERSION OF SWF6: A JPEG-to-FLASH BATCH CONVERSION TOOL

Gent, BELGIUM - February 27, 2002 - active6, a Belgium-based web development & consulting company, today announced it is releasing the 1.3 update of its popular tool SWF6 Converter, an intuitive utility to convert JPEG images into Flash SWF Files without the need of MacroMedia Flash. The new features in this release are based on enhancement requests received from users.

"When we built the first version of the tool six months ago, we were just looking for a way to speed up our own Flash Web development projects;" says active6 founder and MD Bob de Wit. "Then when we started developing a large web project with one of our web business partners, where the tool played a key role in reducing the project development time and cost. Some of our development partners started asking us for a test version and before we knew it, requests for purchasing and licensing were in my mailbox on a daily basis."

active6 released the first public version of SWF6 3 months ago. In the two weeks after the initial release, SWF6 received a five star review on filetransit.com and was featured on the Flash Developers Web Site openswf.org. active6 received hundreds of emails with positive feedback and suggestions from people who evaluated the software. Most of these requests were met in two minor enhancement releases. "Then users were starting to ask for a command-line version, so they could dynamically convert images to Flash format from their web server applications. This release makes that possible."

SWF6 is a tool designed for Web Developers who integrate Flash into their projects. It allows them to locate, select and convert thousands of images to native Flash format in a matter of seconds, something that would take days using MacroMedia Flash. The utility can search, preview and select JPEG images from folders and subfolders, perform batch conversions, add blank frames and a text notice to SWF Files. The package now consists of a command-line version and an intuitive user interface version that allows quick selection of images from a series of folders and subfolders, very much like the Windows Explorer.

"We've released SWF6 as shareware and set the registration fee at $20. If an experienced Flash developer would convert just 50 images to Flash format with SWF6 instead of doing so manually in MacroMedia Flash, the tool will already have payed itself back." says Bob de Wit. "I invite every web developer to try and run the full-featured evaluation version, or even to give it to their customers so they can do the conversions on their images themselves."
