SAW YOU UNVEILS 'WHITE-LABEL MOBILE CHAT SERVICE

Finds perfect partner through the personal ads Scotlands national listings magazine has become the first customer of Saw-Yous new brandable" instant messaging service, which allows users to chat without knowing names, phone numbers or e-mail addresses.

Already launched under its own brand (www.saw-you.com), the Glasgow-based operation has created a white label partnership programme to develop fully branded sites for third parties, and is already in negotiations to develop white label products for five ISPs, including IC24, bringing the Saw-You service to over 1.4 million registered users.

The List magazine is famed for its I Saw You personal page, where readers send messages to try and contact people whove caught their eye. Its new online version shares the branding style of the existing site, but is entirely managed by Saw-You. The revenue - generated by users buying credits to send messages - is split between the two companies.

"The initial similarities between our services made The List a perfect first partner," says Saw-You CEO Mike Kinsella, But we can enable people to do so much more. Now readers can chat to people who hang out in the same bars and cafes, or they can talk directly to another user simply by describing them."

Kinsella will initially be targeting the white label product at existing online communities such as ISPs, as well as the advertising and marketing industry. The depth and precision of our database makes it compelling in marketing terms," says CEO Mike Kinsella. The anonymity makes it fun -- and safe -- for the end user, and the quality of the data we hold on our users is outstanding. As well as the usual information like age and sex, we know which clothing brands our user prefers, the bars, pubs, clubs and cafés where they hangout, even what they like to drink when they get there. For example, if you want to alert female Manchester-based vodka drinkers between the ages of 20 and 25 to a new product promotion at a particular bar this Friday night, we could do it. And because we manage the entire process we can send information that we know is totally targeted and relevant to them. Its not in anyones interest for users to feel theyre being 'spammed."

Technology

Saw-Yous descriptive instant messaging uses PC-based Internet, mobile phone based Internet (WAP) and SMS to allow communication between devices without the need for phone numbers or e-mail addresses. Using fuzzy logic, its data-mining server can identify individual users according to their own descriptive profile. By using a simple SMS template or drop down menu on WAP, the user can quickly identify someone and instantly message them.

Users construct a 'social fingerprint containing the users description, the locations where they like to hang out, their interests and favoured brands. Key elements, such as clothing or location can be updated live via SMS. The locative instant messaging engine automatically groups venues, allowing users to easily -- and anonymously - identify each other.
