Kenny Howes New Band Announces Their First Headlining Show, March 7, 2002 at the Echo Lounge in Atlanta.

Atlanta's Power Pop Kingpin, Kenny Howes, and his new band tentatively dubbed "The New Kenny Howes Quartet" announce their first headling show to be held March 7, 2002 at The Echo Lounge, with Charm School and What The? opening.

Fresh from a packed performance at Atlantas 10 High Club, Kenny Howes makes his first headlining appearance with his new lineup this Thursday, March 7, at the Echo Lounge in East Atlanta (551 Flat Shoals Ave.). The band will be performing with Charm School and What The?. The show starts at 10 PM with Kenny Howes taking the stage at 12 AM. Admission price is $6.00.

The band has been dubbed The New Kenny Howes Quartet" for this show. Howes admits he is having some fun with naming his new band, but still has yet to decide on a permanent name.

During his time off from his previous band, Kenny Howes and the Yeah!, Howes was busy writing new songs. Fans can expect to hear some of these new songs plus their favorites from Howes five previous CDs at the Echo Lounge show.

The new group features Kenny Howes, lead vocals and electric guitar, Mark Bencuya, Hammond Organ and vocals, Kyle Harris, bass guitar and vocals, and Alex McGill, drum set and vocals.

Kenny Howes was just named Band of the Month by SLABMusic.com and featured as Band of the Week on XM Satellite Radio.

Kenny Howes has released five CDs of his own material, "nothing wrong with that" (1995), "Kenny Howes' Second Album" (1996), and "Back To You Today!" (1998), the compilation "The Right Idea" (2000) and the just released "Kenny Howes and the Yeah!" (2002).

He has shared the stage with such artists as The Smithereens, Cheap Trick, Alex Chilton, Marshall Crenshaw, Jonathon Richman, Glenn Tilbrook and numerous others. He has been featured for three years at the Atlantis Music Conference in Atlanta and twice at the annual International Pop Overthrow festival in Los Angeles. He also performed at the 2001 Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta, a 3-day festival that draws over 300,000 music fans.
