Email Marketing Like Never Before: New Business Startup - InfoLeaf Software
Email marketing is a confusing and sometimes annoying industry. We have released a new product that allows email marketers to target their audience, by only sending emails to people who will be interested.
FOR RELEASE ON 5th March 2002
Kelowna, British Columbia (2 March 2002) Internet marketing is fast becoming a confusing industry. With so many different ways to promote a product, where do we draw the line between effective and annoying advertising? Spamming has clearly annoyed many people, mainly because of the fact that most spammers send email to people who really don't care about what is being advertised, which is abusing the system. As for pop-up windows, we usually close them before we read them. There is another way! Imagine if you could send an email to, say, pet stores regarding cheap wholesale pet food. That would surely gain interest.
A new product available called “Email Miner” allows the user to extract email addresses from the Internet. The magic of the product is it allows the user to specify which words that the web page, where the email is extracted from, must and must not contain. This allows the marketer to only target people who will be interested in what they have to say, instead of emailing a millionaire about reducing their debt.
So how does it work? First the user selects a search engine from the list, and then enters a search term to send to the search engine. The program retrieves all the pages from the search engine regarding the search term that was entered and searches for emails on those pages. The user can enter filters that specify words that the web address, email address and web page, must and must not contain, for the emails to qualify for extraction. The filter system is extremely powerful, allowing the user to specify both “and” and “or” words. For example, a web page must contain “cats” OR “dogs” AND “for sale” for the emails on that page to qualify for extraction.
Once the emails are extracted, the user hits the send emails button, enters the content of the email, and the program sends off the email one by one. This makes the email appear as if the user clicked on the email link on the persons website and sent the email to them personally. The only difference is that email is being sent to thousands of people regarding a topic they are interested in.
