KPMG Consultants sets up a knowledge centre
on Netmining technology in Belgium
Leuven/Brussels, Belgium, 6 March 2002 -- KPMG Consultants, a firm of management consultants, has plans to include a new site analyzer tool from Netmining, a Leuven-based developer of software, in its own international product suite. With the aid of that software, companies will be able to extract hard facts about potential customers from the surfing behaviour of visitors to their website(s). This agreement is a significant step forward in the global expansion of the Leuven-based start-up Netmining, which was founded in January 2000.
In order to pool implementation know-how about the Netmining products and make it readily accessible, KPMG Consultants is in the process of setting up an internationally-operating knowledge centre in Belgium. That location was chosen because Netmining is headquartered in Leuven and the cooperation and technology transfer had its origins there.
HitsIntoLeads and HitsIntoMetrics
HitsIntoLeads and HitsIntoMetrics are two software packages for e-Business Intelligence for which Netmining has patents pending.
When a visitor is referred to a web page from a search engine or directory, he leaves a detectable, electronic 'footprint that reveals what keywords and key phrases he used to search for an organizations site, product or service. HitsIntoLeads analyses that 'footprint, thereby allowing such organizations to target prospective customers to their site(s) and maximize website revenue. HitsIntoLeads was launched in the middle of last year and was used commercially, for the first time, by the hardware producer Compaq Europe, with great success. That company identified, with the aid of the software, 30% new sales leads and has already realized with this project, by their own account, a return on investment of more than 100% after just a months use. HitsIntoLeads also won a silver medal of honour at the international trade fair 'Comdex Fall -- 2001, in the 'Best eBusiness Products category.
HitsIntoMetrics is a modular software solution whereby companies can analyse, comparatively, the visitor traffic or 'click stream their respective websites are getting. Thanks to that analysis they receive detailed statistics about the surfers that visit their websites, and theyre able to compare the analytical data from the different sites on a consistent basis. The software package has already, during the trial phase, been field-tested worldwide by Lexmark, a leading manufacturer of printers.
With HitsIntoLeads and HitsIntoMetrics, our customers can realize a good return on investment (ROI)," said Guido de Grefte, CRM solutions leader at KPMG Consultants. A recent market survey carried out by Grid Publishing shows, namely, that the Internet plays a key role in the decision-making process for information-intensive purchases (such as fleet vehicles & company cars, financial services and electronics), even in cases where the actual purchase is made offline. With the aid of Netminings site traffic analyzer tool, the most likely and potentially valuable leads can be passed on to the traditional sales channel. The Netmining applications have also demonstrated that they are easy to install, achieve good results quickly and integrate seamlessly into the CRM strategy."
Privacy preferences
Netminings solutions comply with the latest privacy laws and regulations. Netmining is the only site traffic analyzer tool that affords website visitors the (automatically triggered) option of surfing anonymously. Website traffic logs may only be held on a server after visitors have given their express consent thereto. In addition, the software supports P3P protocol -- a new standard for privacy policies that warns surfers before they access non-P3P-compliant sites. (i.e. those that dont have a human- and/or computer-readable disclosure on privacy practices).

About KPMG Consultants
KPMG is, globally, one of the 5 biggest trendsetting global service organizations in the sphere of auditing, accountancy, tax-, financial- and legal advice and consulting. The size of the workforce, in 2001, was ca. 115000, with 1,100 agencies in 160 countries.
In Belgium, KPMG Consultants has ca. 950 employees, spread over 6 locations: Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Hasselt, Namur and Mons. KPMG is one of the 3 biggest companies in its specialist domain in Western Europe. Its auditors and consultants are, of course, trained in a European environment; this means that internationally-operating teams can be mobilized, if the customer so requires.
KPMG Consultants is currently implementing both software packages (HitsintoMetrics and HitsintoLeads) for several of its customers. Experience shows that the implementation of those packages should, ideally, be part of a broader course of change management, in order to guarantee the expected ROI of these packages. Efforts, in that respect, should focus on procedures for targeting leads via the different sales channels and websites, and also on content management processes (tagging and site structure organization included).
