Olathe, Kansas Selects Intergraph Public Safety
The City of Olathe, Kansas has entered into a partnership agreement with the City of Overland Park, Kansas to acquire a computer aided dispatch, records management, and field reporting solution from Intergraph Public Safety (IPS).
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 1, 2002 -- The City of Olathe, Kansas has entered into a partnership agreement with the City of Overland Park, Kansas to acquire a computer aided dispatch, records management, and field reporting solution from Intergraph Public Safety (IPS). The contract award is valued at $851,000.
The acquisition of the IPS solution presents a tremendous opportunity for both cities to share information, improve interagency interaction and to share costs. The IPS solution was chosen for its sophisticated design and its complete integration of its field reporting modules, automatic vehicle location components, mapping, computer aided dispatch, records management, crime analysis, intelligence, and management tools.
Located just twenty miles southwest of downtown Kansas City, Olathe is the fifth largest city in Kansas, and the second largest in Johnson County, with a population of over 100,000. Because it shares several miles of common border with the City of Overland Park and joint responses between the two cities are almost daily occurrences, the IPS solution will provide a seamless, integrated solution across the county.
The addition of the Olathe Police Department, as a partner, in the Intergraph system is significant. When fully implemented it will enhance our ability to instantaneously share important offender and crime related data within the area. The cooperation between the two departments is already benefiting residents of both communities. By technologically linking the two agencies we can take that cooperative effort to a whole new level," said Lieutenant Mike Billquist, Project Manager, Overland Park Police Department.
The improved coordination of services in areas where jurisdictions intersect and sharing greater amounts of information will result in increased efficiency for both departments," said Dr. Roger O. Coupland, president of Intergraph Public Safety.
