Liberty Temple Full Gospel Church Hosts First Annual Gospel Talent Showcase

Chicago, Illinois - - Liberty Temple Full Gospel Church hosted its first annual Gospel Talent Showcase - Praise In The House 2002. The event's purpose is to celebrate and showcase the progress of Arts in the church. Chicagoland's WYCA, 106.3 FM, gospel radio host Meechie, (Gospel in Motion) was the emcee for the evening. The Talent Showcase featured contestants from local Chicago area churches.
The Angel Praise Dancers (Antioch M. B. Church) won the first place prize of $1000. Power & Light Evangelistic Church placed second with $500. The Daughters of Promise Praise Dancers (God Promised Outreach Center) finished in third place with $200. Valley Kingdom Ministries; St. John Baptist Church; Ambassadors for Christ Ministries; Mission of Faith Ministries; Christian Covenant; Christian Tabernacle; and Saved by Grace Ministries were among the other participants in this event. Liberty Temple's Sanctified Band, contemporary gospel female group - Light of Love, Sweet Holy Spirit Steppers, and gospel poet Mama Matthews provided soul-stirring performances.
Liberty Temple Full Gospel Church of Chicago has provided outreach services and programs to the community for over 20 years. Those community efforts include providing off-site bible study groups, hosting clothing and food drives for needy individuals, providing toys to single parents with children living in public housing facilities, and sponsoring the Liberty Warriors, a neighborhood basketball team for boys. Most recent successes include the Emmy Award Winning film series "The Awakening" - which depicted the struggles facing youth in the inner cities. Senior Pastor Sheraine Lathon and Liberty Temple Full Gospel church remains firm in their commitment to providing programs and service that will bring unity and camaraderie in the community.
