ATLANTA, GA, March 5, 2002 - Arizan Corporation, the leading developer of wireless content enabling technology, today announced the availability of the Java version of its successful carrier-grade AirDoc Platform. This release positions Arizan as the only company able to deliver a truly scalable, secure, rich document content access solution across all major server platforms and wireless devices. Arizan licenses the AirDoc Platform to wireless device manufacturers and carriers, and wireless application developers who are developing and hosting wireless applications such as email, CRM, and LAN access.
The AirDoc Platform J, written entirely in Java, is available as a multi-threaded J2SEä and J2EEä architecture and runs on any OS that supports Java VM 1.2 or later, including Solaris, Linux, and Windows. AirDoc Platform J natively reads and converts corporate document formats on the fly to persistent, XML-structured, wireless content. Features include real-time search and creation of content summaries, resulting in more than a 90% reduction in the amount of data sent over low-bandwidth wireless networks. In addition, AirDoc Readers for device-specific rich content viewing and optimized delivery are available for all major wireless devices including Palm OSâ handhelds, RIM Wireless Handheldsä, J2MEä and Windows CE. This includes support for the new Blackberry 5810ä GPRS device.
The AirDoc Platform J uses no 3rd party libraries, JNI connectors or any Windows components or applications for conversion. AirDoc native conversion alleviates complex licensing and performance issues, removes the requirement to have the original native authoring application, such as MS Office, installed on the server and eliminates embedded document virus concerns. Supported formats include MS Office suite, Adobe PDF, Corel WordPerfect and more.
"Unix continues to be the de-facto operating system for the majority of ISP's, ASPs and carriers," said Darrell Knight, Arizan's CEO. "The availability of a highly scalable content technology written in pure Java now allows these customers to embed our technology directly within their own architecture for complete optimization."
The AirDoc Platform is delivered with a comprehensive API and fully documented source code samples in Java and C++ for rapid integration and accelerated time to market. The AirDoc Platform lets developers embed Arizan technology directly to leverage an existing, proven application or communicate with the AirDoc Platform through TCP/IP to add rich, smart wireless document access, navigation and interaction to their wireless capabilities.
