SUTRON HYDROLOGICAL SERVICES DIVISION RECEIVES 5-YEAR CONTRACT FROM SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

Sutron will provide highly specialized services in the areas of stream flow data acquisition and evaluation, flow estimation method evaluation, and rating developmen covering the following areas: Stormwater Treatment Areas (STAs), Coastal Structures, the EAA, Lake Okeechobee, and Kissimmee River area.

March 4, 2002, Sterling, VA....Sutron announced today that it has received a 5- year contract to manage a Flow Monitoring and Rating Development Project for the South Florida Water Management District, covering the following areas: Stormwater Treatment Areas (STAs), Coastal Structures, the EAA, Lake Okeechobee, and Kissimmee River area. Sutron and its partners will provide highly specialized services in the areas of stream flow data acquisition and evaluation, flow estimation method evaluation, and rating development. The South Florida Water Management District is comprised of a 16 county area from central Florida's Kissimmee River to Lake Okeechobee, and from coast to coast, spanning the peninsula from Fort Myers to Fort Pierce, south through the Everglades to Florida Bay.
In December 2001 Steve Tarte, VP, opened the companys first Florida office to establish Sutrons Hydrological Services Division. Over the last 12 years Mr. Tarte has worked extensively with the South Florida Water Management District as well as the other WMDs and the US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District. Sutrons new offices in Florida will emphasize the collection of hydrometric data, hydrologic investigations, meteorologic data collection, stream discharge collection and the installation and maintenance of monitoring stations for the collection of surface water levels, groundwater levels, and water quality data.
