Nueweb Delivers Ultimate Product-centric Microsite for Launch of Canon EOS-D60
Blacksburg, VA -- March 5, 2002 -- Shopping on the web is now a real-world experience. A new website launched last week allows companies to show their products on the web in the same way that people interact with them in the real world.
Canon USA launched the site to introduce its newest digital camera, the EOS-D60. The D60 is a high-resolution, 6.3-megapixel, digital SLR camera, and Canon needed to provide an online experience that would give consumers a complete, intimate and intuitive understanding of the D60 and create a compelling desire to buy.
Canon enlisted Nueweb, Inc., a leading developer of interactive, full motion Product Displays and an expanding suite of digital tools designed to enhance online shopping and preshopping experiences, to create a microsite dedicated to the D60 launch. Nueweb developed a unique creative concept for a site that allows visitors to experience the look and feel of the camera as they navigate the site. By incorporating interactive images of the physical D60 camera and its various iconic elements into the navigational scheme of the site, visitors can experience a look and feel that mimics the camera and its key features. Using this concept, the ultimate quality and unique distinction of the D60 was transferred directly to the site. Exploring the website becomes the experience of using the camera.
Nuewebs unique approach to the design of the D60 site allows us to come as close as we possibly can to delivering the experience of actually having our products in the customers hands while they are at our website", says Chuck Westfall, Assistant Director for Technical Information at Canon USAs Camera Division. They provided a unique and complete creative package that captured the essence of the D60."
This is the worlds first completely product-centric website," said Nueweb CEO, Brian Leitten. It provides a Zen-like experience where the site becomes the camera. We expect that many of our consumer goods and medical products customers will be adopting this new approach to launching their new products and showcasing existing products. Our goal is to provide an ever-expanding suite of digital tools that allows our customers to present their products on the web in the same fashion that customers would see and interact with them in the real world."
The central features of the site include a 720° Product Display and a range of Action Boxes that allows visitors to visually explore every aspect of the D60. Visitors can see the operation and features of the camera up close, inspect it from virtually any angle, and enjoy the total experience of the D60 camera in action.
As part of the creative proposal, Nueweb developed the tag line Join the Resolution" to emphasize the importance of the professional quality results that the D60 delivers. The tag line is the anchor of the intro section of the D60 site. After a dramatic entrance, letters eso" in the tag line morph into EOS, Canons trademark for its electronic operating system. Visitors to the site are then invited to immerse themselves in the camera and experience the D60 online.
