Baltimore St. Patrick Day Parade

The Baltimore St. Patrick Day Parade is prepared to step off at 2:00 PM, March 17, 2002

Baltimore, MD - March 17, 2002

The 46th annual Baltimore St. Patrick Day Parade is prepared to step off at 2:00 PM.

Parade Chairman, David W. Keelan, announced that the Grand Marshal, Honorary Grand Marshal, and Deputy Marshals have been installed.

Michael Flynn, past parade chairman, was selected by the Irish community as the Grand Marshal. J. Michael Riley, Vice President of AllFirst Bank, was selected Honorary Grand Marshal.

The Deputy Marshal are as follows:

Ancient Order of Hibernians State Board - John Barry
Ancient Order of Hibernians City Board - Shane Nesdale
Ancient Order of Hibernians Division I Catonsville - Dennis Healy
Ancient Order of Hibernians Division I Annapolis - Robert Philburn
Ancient Order of Hibernians Division III Towson - Brian McMearty
Ancient Order of Hibernians Division V - Daniel Layden
Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians - Cyrile Sincock
Emerald Isle Club - Nora Kalkman
Emerald Society Fire - John Gallagher
Emerald Society Police - Edward Ned O'Byrne
Friendly Sons - Tim McCully
Irish Festival - John Dugan
St. John's 10th Ward - James Finch

In addition, the parade will include 19 bands.

Monumental City Ancient Fife and Drum
Westminster Municipal
Greater Overbrook String Band
Penns Grove High School Marching Band
Baltimore City Pipe & Drum
Uptown String Band
Penn Manor Marching Unit
Police Emerald Society - Pipe Band and Color Guard
Kiltie Band of York
McKean Highlander Marching Band
Yankee Rebels
Chesapeake Caledonian Pipe Band
Original Trilby String Band
Hanover Lancers
John F. Nicoll Pipe Band
Clann na Eireann

The parade will also contain approximately 80 other marching units representing a wide spectrum of community organizations.

"The 46th Baltimore St. Patrick Parade will maintain its tradition as Maryland's largest such event", said Mr. Keelan

Parade organizers will also be joined by local, state and federal elected officials.

St. Patrick Celebrations, Inc. is a non-stock corporation a.k.a. the Baltimore St. Patrick Parade Committee. The function of the organization is to raise the necessary funding and produce the annual St. Patrick Parade. The committee is comprised of representatives of the areas thirteen major Irish community and service groups.
