Thousands of College Students Compete In
Huge, On-Line Business Simulation
This describes the world's largest, international business competition among college students. The students manage simulated corporations, trying within the space of two weeks, to generate the most profits.
Dan Smith, president of Management Simulations, Inc. (PRWEB) March 14, 2002 -annual "Capstone Challenge." The free, on-line competition (www.capsim.com) uses the popular Capstone and Foundation Business Simulations.
The Capstone Challenge is open to all 55,000 registered Capstone and Foundation college and university students. MSI officials expect upwards of 500 student teams from 400 schools worldwide, to compete for school prestige and personal glory.
Each team will manage a simulated corporation for eight simulated years -- all within the space of two weeks. Teams will win by generating the highest "profits." Students will make business decisions involving Research and Development, Marketing, Production, Human Resources and Finance -- just as in real corporations.
Smith says, "The learning experience for the students is wonderful. They make the same decisions corporate leaders make and see the results with in hours."
The competition is held each year, during the spring and fall semesters. Past winners include teams from the University of North Carolina's Keenan-Flagler Business School, the University of California at San Diego, and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Teams from Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey have twice placed second.
Participating students register at www.capsim.com no later than April 20th. Qualifier competition rounds run April 22nd - May 02nd, 2002. Qualifying round winners will then compete in the finals from May 03rd - May 05th. Winners will be announced on May 06th.
