$113 Billion Dollars Lost Annually to Mental Illness

Nearly $113 billion dollars are lost to families, businesses and the U.S. government annually due to untreated mental illness says the National Mental Health Association.

(PRWEB) March 14, 2002 -- Nearly $113 billion dollars are lost to families, businesses and the U.S. government annually due to untreated mental illness says the National Mental Health Association.

The money is lost because millions of Americans suffer from untreated mental illnesses. Some of the most common disorders are:

- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) affecting approximately 4 million Americans annually.

- Clinical Depression affecting more than 19 million Americans annually.

- Alcohol (drinking related) involving 13.8 million Americans annually.

To help the community, Northwestern Institute reaches out, offering assistance to those in mental health crisis. In attempt to be as assessable to the community as possible, Northwestern Institute has established a 24hour, toll free hotline (800-256-5300) for referrals and assessment.

Northwestern Institute of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, provides inpatient psychiatric services, including dual diagnosis, for people of all ages.
