Special Promotion Bundles the Award Winning 17.4" Formac gallery 1740 Flat Panel Display with the Pantone Colorvision Spyder
BERKELEY, Calif. -- March 11th, 2002 -- Formac Electronic Inc., ColorVision, a division of Datacolor, and Pantone, Inc. today announce a special promotion that bundles the Spyder, the award winning monitor calibrator from the PANTONE® COLORVISION product line, with the Formac gallery 1740, the worlds first 17.4" color-accurate flat-panel display. The bundle offers an exceptional value for professionals working in color-critical applications where viewing angle, picture quality and accurate on-screen color are important.
"Monitor calibration is crucial in the color management workflow," explained Richard Herbert, president of Pantone. "This specially priced bundle will provide color professionals with an affordable solution for achieving accurate PANTONE Colors."
Pantone and ColorVision are providing Formac with the Spyder, an all-digital, seven-filter colorimeter designed for LCD displays and a modified version of their popular PhotoCAL monitor calibration software. Formac will bundle the kit "in box" with its award-winning Formac gallery 1740.
"Formac, ColorVision and Pantone have teamed up to create a high-quality and attractively priced color display solution," said Brian Levey, vice president of ColorVision. "Now color professionals can have a state of the art, calibrated LCD display with accurate color."
The LCD Spyder has seven sensors and seven long pass filters that allow it to closely match the human eye response, resulting in highly accurate monitor calibration. To accommodate the anti-glare coatings and mutable nature of LCD monitors, the LCD Spyder comes with an accessory that allows gentle and flat placement on screen. The sleek design complements the high-tech Formac gallery 1740.
Combining beautiful form and smart functionality with Fujitsus revolutionary Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment (MVA) technology, Formac gallery 1740 outperforms comparable liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in picture and video quality. To achieve true on-screen colors the Formac gallery takes advantage of two unique engineering breakthroughs: Formacs proprietary digital graphics technology and the latest generation MVA active matrix. Colors are displayed truly distortion-free from a viewing angle of up to 160 degrees, making Formac gallery the worlds first LCD to work accurately with the monitor calibrator from PANTONE® COLORVISION.
Formac gallery 1740 is designed for professional applications such as desktop publishing, CAD/CAM and video editing, and is compatible with Macintosh (ADC) as well as PC (DVI). Among others it received the "Best of Show" award at MacWorld Expo and the editors choice award from MacWorld magazine, CNET and ZDNET.
"Engineering advanced graphics and visualization solutions have been Formacs strength for more than 15 years," said Oliver Bergmann, Ph.D., chief executive officer and president of Formac Inc. "During this time, the need for accurate monitor color has evolved into a critical requirement for our customers. Until now, an LCD display with hardware calibration was priced well over $1,700. This promotion now makes it available for under $1,200."
