StreamCast's new promotion plan is scheduled to kick off April 1, at the same time it releases a long-awaited new version of its Morpheus software. The current "Preview Edition," which taps into the open-source Gnutella file-trading network, was rushed out early this month to replace the mysteriously defunct previous version. According to CNET Download.com, which keeps a count of people downloading the software, Morpheus has been downloaded more than 77 million times.
MusicCity.com makes unprecedented strides in digital rights management. Musiccity.com allows new content to be distributed through the Morpheus User Network with an innovative digital rights management technology called CintoA. This technology enables the content files to be applications that run on Morpheus, supporting a wide array of business models for artists and software owners alike direct to customers. "We offer the technology that allows content to be distributed around the Peer to Peer Network with rules. These rules are set by the artists, which allow users to listen to their music, and then have the option of purchasing it. For the first time artists, publishers, labels and Music Rights Associations can take advantage of technology instead of technology taking advantage of them."
