Introducing Tim Weber for Milwaukee County Executive.

Tim Weber, a 22 year-old University of Wisconsin Madison student is running for Milwaukee County Executive. Tim managed what many experts considered impossible: an unknown with no volunteer structure collecting 2,000 signitures in a one week period. His goal is to get student involvement, and his staff of Milwaukee area university students is a testiment to that goal.

Tim Weber, a twenty-two year old University of Wisconsin--Madison student is currently running for Milwaukee County Executive, a non-partisan position whose duties include overseeing the county board and county budget, in an effort to bring a young voice to government and strengthen student involvement in the democratic process. The primary, which will narrow the current cast of six to two, will be held April 2nd, with the general election to take place on April 30th.

In an effort to rally and prove the strength of the student population, the entire campaign--the first for the history major graduating in May--is operated and organized almost entirely by students from universities all across Milwaukee. This unique approach gives the Weber Campaign a grassroots momentum and a distinct approach and view of how county government should be run.

Tim is referred to as the un-politician," a major selling point to the campaign supporters. Instead of being bogged down with party biases, Tim is able to see through the rhetoric to create comprehensive, well-meaning policy that can set its sights on the future rather than the past.

The ability to be listed on the ballot speaks to Tims worthiness of the position. Friends of friends of Tim took action, circulating the petitions for signature around malls, grocery stores, bowling alleys and student gathering places. The response from both the signature collectors and the signers was tremendous; everyone wanted to help the everyman Tim.

The position of Milwaukee County Executive was left vacant after former County Executive F. Thomas Ament resigned over a pension scandal and subsequent petition for recall in which over 182,000 signatures were collected. Tim Weber then gathered over 2,200 signatures in one week to be listed on the primary ballot.
