VIAQUO (TM) EXPANDS INFORMATION SECURITY OFFERING AS NEW ALTERNATIVE TO PGP

Using a Distributed Architecture, ViaSeal (TM) From Viaquo Makes it Easy for PGP Users to Deploy and Manage a Highly Scaleable Information Security Solution

SAN JOSE, Calif., (PRWEB) March 20, 2002 --In light of Network Associates® recent decision to discontinue service and support of Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) to desktop security users, Viaquo Corporation has expanded the marketing of their ViaSeal information security product to offer PGP users and VARs a new alternative that will protect digital files while they are in transit or stored.

Viaquo's Distributed Access Permissioning Software is unlike any other information security platform because its distributed architecture can be quickly deployed and centrally managed across any-sized corporate enterprise or network. ViaSeal allows users to encrypt any file and store or transmit it anywhere, knowing that only people with company-authorized ViaSeal accounts containing the appropriate credentials or access permissions will be able to access (decrypt) those files.

While ViaSeal and PGP share many of the same capabilities -- both integrate into standard email packages (e.g., MS Outlook and Lotus Notes), both allow encrypting and decrypting of files, and both use standard encryption libraries -- ViaSeal is an access permissioning platform designed for easy one-to-many distribution of digital files of all kinds. ViaSeal even supports message forwarding, email aliases and distribution lists, existing email deployments, and allows companies to set up "guest accounts" for any number of outside users. ViaSeal also provides defense-in-depth, since it protects the data files from attackers both inside and outside the company's security perimeter.

"ViaSeal is strongly differentiated from many of today's security applications. Unlike PGP, ViaSeal is easy to scale and manage, deploy and administer for large networks of users," says Viaquo's CEO, Bill Sweet. "If the requirements are protecting files during storage and transmittal, and being able to precisely manage who can access those files with centralized administration , now is the time for PGP users to migrate to ViaSeal. The ViaSeal security solution is both Internet-deployable and Internet-manageable. ViaSeal client software can be downloaded to users within minutes, and ViaSeal system servers can be installed and working within days, leveraging existing systems with minimal disruptions."

Sweet added that ViaSeal is easy to deploy because it does not require digital signatures and can work with existing email, firewalls, VPNs, and network architectures or as an independent utility. As a select feature, ViaSeal member accounts can be set up and administered by corporate security people, ensuring careful control of who has ViaSeal capability and who does not. Additionally, company security administrators can decrypt ViaSeal encrypted files during emergency situations. With ViaSeal, there is no need for a centralized authentication process to access files since the authentication is built into both the credentials (permissions) that are pre-distributed to users, as well as permissions requirements contained within the encrypted files themselves.

"As a result, security managers will prefer ViaSeal's benefits because it brings the best of both worlds -- a strong centralized control mechanism for administering the security profiles of individual users, coupled with the power of distributed access authorization through client-based security profiles," Sweet said.

Using CKM® technology licensed from TecSec®, Inc., the extra-strength encryption built into ViaSeal is rooted in ANSI x9.69 standards. Its distributed architecture makes it particularly well suited for securing sensitive corporate data and e-business transactions, or for music and video content vending over upcoming 3G wireless networks to the next generation of Internet-capable cell phone/PDA/music handhelds and other wireless devices.

Once deployed throughout the enterprise to network users, files secured using ViaSeal can be stored and/or transmitted over any public or private network. Any-sized corporation or content vendor can now place their most valuable digital assets directly on the Internet, with the confidence that only authorized users can access the data.

Wherever the data is, however it is transmitted, no matter who has it, or how many copies exist, or even if your portable computer is stolen, it can be protected.
