Future Communications Software announces launch of enhanced IPv6 products for next generation networks

San Jose, CA, 18 March 2002

Future Communications Software, a leading provider of communications software source code products and services, announced the launch of IPv6 Compact Host, IPv6 Router and Dual IP stack -- enhanced IPv6 products for next generation networks. These products will enable major worldwide equipment manufacturers involved in rolling out equipment for the next generation networks to quickly add the IPv6 functionality to their equipment.

IPv6 Compact Host is a plug and play model with complete host functionality for IPv6 enabled devices like networked printers, desktops and notebooks. IPv6 Router is a complete router implementation with an IPv6 forwarding engine and RIPng for routing for scalable routers in next generation networks. Dual IP stack has an IPv4 plus IPv6 functionality for routers and hosts, which can either completely replace or coexist with existing IPv4 based networks. A significant benefit to customers is the use of a single socket interface and TCP layer for both IPv4 and IPv6 reducing memory requirements and enabling a smooth transition from the present into the future.

These highly portable implementations of IPv6 will be amongst the first of such offerings from any of the global protocol stack majors, said Ashish Basu, Vice President -- Sales and Marketing, IPv6 with its expanded addressing, auto configuration, security architecture and quality of service is seeing traction in the market, especially for wireless equipment. We believe, our IPv6 products will give significant time-to-market advantage to network equipment vendors" he added.

Future Communications Software, along with its parent company, Future Software Limited has also announced plans to add IPv6light into its existing suite of IPv6 products. IPv6light is a small code footprint IPv6 implementation utilizing minimal memory and operating system resources, for the low cost network appliances (LCNA) market.

Future Communications Software was amongst the first source code vendors to offer a commercial IPv6 implementation in 1997. This implementation has been significantly enhanced to support the latest security standards. FutureIPv6 is simple to port on to different target platforms including popular Real Time Operating Systems like VxWorks, pSOS, Nucleus, OSE, QNX and embedded Linux. All the IPv6 implementations from Future Communications Software are tested extensively for functionality, conformance and interoperability including compliance with IP Consortium Test Suites for IPv6 from the University of New Hampshire and TAHI / KAME(for Japan) test suites.
