Mustard Seed Ranch

At Mustard Seed Ranch, troubled children and young adults ages 11-18 come to engage in specially designed animal assisted programs. The MSR Advisory board includes some of the country’s most esteemed youth advocates such as Dr. John Townsend, Donald Verleur (Olive Crest,) Dr. Samuel Ross (Green Chimneys,) Mel Blount and equestrians including Maxine Berge Frietas, Greg Kersten and John Lyons. The goal for the logo was to convey a rustic ranch image while communicating hope and the renewal of life through the program. In the mark, the MSR is a traditional cattle brand to quickly identify a ranch. The outline of MSR is a lighter screen to give the impression of the depth of an actual brand on leather. Incorporated into the words "Mustard Seed Ranch" is a small heart which ties in with the softer flowing font in the statement “a safe place for Hope & Healing”. Finally the whole logo was bordered with sticks to reflect a simple rustic flavor. Additional projects in development include various literatures and collateral, and a web site.

Cal Pac Sheet Metal

Cal Pac Sheet Metal is a leading sheet metal contractor in Orange County whose clients include California Pacific Homes, Lennar Homes, K & B Homes, and John Lang Homes, among others. The project goal was to create a mark that could stand alone as well as with the company name; to signify Cal Pac. This was accomplished by utilizing the letters "C" and "P" as the primary focus. The resulting mark has several layers of meaning attached including the "C" and "P" created with the look of molded metal, their controlled and smooth flow into the snips, and the more abstract image of a metal worker whose head sits atop the “C”. The font flavor is very modern and yet again reinforces the worker’s control over the metal with its firmly cut lines combined with angled edges. Additional projects in development for Cal Pac Sheet Metal include brochure design as well as the firm’s web site debut.

Renaissance Church

A new Protestant church located in the heart of the East Coast conservative bastion of Short Hills, New Jersey, an affluent New York City commuter town. The design project involved creating a contemporary and stylish mark reflecting a spiritual renaissance to the target audience of young urban professionals without looking too young or too Gen X and while staying away from the historical Renaissance period. The ragged edge breaks the mark out of a traditional frame yet it still retains order and structure with design of the "R." The "R" also embodies the idea of reconstruction or renaissance without relying on the historic Renaissance. Finally the font used for "Renaissance" is a loose brush stroke, breaking it out of a traditional feel while the font for "church" was traditional though smaller and screened back. This allows the word "Renaissance" to be the primary focus while still clear that it is a church. The identity system utilized a beautiful emboss of the logo, on white stock for the letterhead with a large royal purple screen of the logo, and in royal purple on the business cards.
