New Delhi, March 23, 2002- infoUSA Inc. (infoUSA), the USD 340 million leading provider of database information to support sales and marketing operations in the US, today announced the opening of its first state-of-the-art office in India at Global Business Park, Gurgaon, India.

infoUSA will not only compile and update its databases in India but do so initially by outsourcing Call Center and Back Office services from well set-up Indian companies. After extensive consultations with a number of leading Indian Call Center operators, infoUSA has already identified a number of organisations around the country and expects to commence business with them in the next three weeks. infoUSA, founded in 1972 by Chairman and CEO Mr. Vinod Gupta,an ethnic Indian, is listed on the NASDAQ (as IUSA), and employs over 2,000 employees in its 37 offices across the US.

Said Mr. Vinod Gupta, Chairman and CEO of infoUSA, "We see this initiative adding considerable value to our USD 340 million turnover internationally, while contributing over USD 4 million to the Indian Call Center companies initially. This could go up to USD 10-15 million annually once the momentum picks up. We have chosen to outsource some of our critical operations to India because of a strategic vision which recognises India's unique competence in this area. We expect India to become an IT super power over the next few years. In addition, I am always delighted to do anything that generates fresh employment in my home country."

The Indian Call Centers will service up to 25 million calls per annum concentrating initially on survey work and customer care and this is expected to be extended to cover areas like marketing information as well. In addition, infoUSA will look at opportunities to serve Indian exporters with accurate and targeted data for them to use.

Said President - India Office, Mr. A.D.Sharma, "We are outsourcing both survey work and customer care which are critical life-blood areas for a database leveraging firm like infoUSA. We are able to do this with confidence because of India's excellent technical manpower base, the high level of intelligence and trainability among call center professionals and their fluent English language abilities."

Among the products offered by infoUSA are Business Sales Leads & Mailing Lists, Consumer Sales Leads & Mailing Lists, Business-to-Business Sales & Marketing Directories, Comprehensive Business Credit Reports and Customer Analyser & New Prospect Builders.

These databases are compiled from thousands of public sources and infoUSA's own telephone research and proprietary analytical models. In order to improve the quality of these databases, infoUSA staffers make as many as 20 million phone-calls per annum to gather additional content and verify existing information because the content can change by as much as 60% every year including changes in address, phone numbers, SIC codes and other particulars within a record. Since infoUSA's customers need to continually refresh their databases, they return year on year to purchase updates, products and services. Recurring revenue therefore is a major component of infoUSA's growth model and accounts for approximately 66% of all revenues.

The products derived from these continually updated databases include sales leads, mailing lists, diskettes, 3x5 sales leads cards, business directories, DVD products, mapping products and also, increasingly, delivery of data on the internet.

Over 3 million customers, which include SOHOs and SMEs use infoUSA products and services to find new customers, increase revenue, cut selling costs and increase profits. Larger corporations use infoUSA's databases for direct marketing, database marketing, analyzing customer preferences and making their sales and marketing departments more efficient and productive. Consumers also use infoUSA's information for travel planning, job searches, due diligence exercises and so on.
