INVENTEL announces the availability of its RS-232 serial port based on the Bluetooth wireless technology: BlueAirPlug

Paris, mars 2002 - INVENTEL announces the availability of BlueAirPlug: a wireless RS-232 serial port developed with the Bluetooth wireless technology. This product is designed around the class 1 Bluetooth module named BlueBird and designed and manufactured by INVENTEL. It can turn instantaneously a product with a RS-232 connector into a Bluetooth compatible device. It allows connections up to more than 100 meters. The BlueAirPlug can operate with an electrical adapter or with batteries.

BlueAirPlug can turn instantaneously a product with a RS-232 serial port into a wireless Bluetooth device. It gives the capability to wirelessly connect two RS-232 connectors together on a distance up to more than 100 meters. This product is aimed at interconnect PC and/or industrial equipments.

BlueAirPlug is designed around the class 1 Bluetooth module from INVENTEL: BlueBird. The communication is established with 20 dBm in output and an input sensitivity of --85dBm. It embeds the GAP (Generic Access Profile) and SSP (Serial Port Profile) developed by INVENTEL.

The technical characteristics of the BlueAirPlug are:

BlueAirPlug does not require any installation or specific setup and can be connected directly on a RS-232 serial port.

BlueAirPlug is designed in a small case form factor with a RS-232 connector, a plug for an optional antenna, an on/off switch and a plug for the power supply.
