Managing Retail Point-of-Sale Just Became a Whole Lot Easier

Latest release of Nextor(TM) POS and Retail Store Management Application now includes an embedded Configuration and Design Kit (CDK). Java(TM) application's toolkit for non-programmers greatly reduces reliance on Java developers.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD -- March 22, 2002 -- ADS Retail has announced the release of Nextor Version 2 Release 2 of its all-Java Point of Sale (POS) and Retail Store Management application. This latest release contains more than one hundred enhancements including the introduction of an embedded CDK (Configuration and Design Kit) for non-programmers.

Dont confuse this new feature with a SDK (Software Development Kit) that is supplied with many applications for use by programmers." said Ed Weiss, Director of Marketing for ADS Retail. We carefully chose this acronym because Nextors CDK facilitates capabilities formerly available only through the use of an SDK. Now, the CDK empowers a non-programmer to make changes to the POS. Our toolkit, when combined with Nextors dynamic configuration capabilities and its enterprise architecture, gives retailers control over the graphic interface and business logic of their POS... capabilities that ordinarily require extensive and costly programming.

For example, if a retailer wants to add 'Bonus Bucks as a new tender he or she simply goes to the Back Office module, clicks on 'Add a New Tender, names the tender, answers a few questions, and clicks on 'save and 'send. The new Bonus Bucks are immediately available at every terminal (or at whatever terminals are selected). Its that simple. So are other changes like screen layout and colors, receipt text, customer display text, creating new screens for obtaining customer information, include/change screen and receipt logos, auto signoff of terminals at user defined times, and much more."

Version 2 Release 2 also features many other enhancements including: automatic store opening and closing if the retailer wants to do this (this last function is especially useful for 24-hour operations), sales reporting for any time period...days, weeks, month, or user specified range of start/stop dates, an enhanced pricing engine, and new Web integration capabilities.
