Former CNET Senior Vice President Joins Software Tools Innovator

San Francisco, CA -- March 26, 2002 -- Tekadence, creators of innovative tools for building Java software, today announced it has named Pete Deemer Chief Executive Officer. Deemer, formerly Senior Vice President and founder of the Outbound Media Group of CNET Networks, Inc. has also been appointed to Tekadences board of directors. Deemers appointment reflects a broadening of Tekadences executive management team, as the company releases the beta version of its first product, Tekadence Magik, at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco.

Tekadence Magik is the product of several years of intensive work by a team of highly respected software designers, with an inspired vision of how to make software design faster, easier, and more accessible. I am tremendously excited to be joining this team of technology innovators at the debut of Tekadence Magik," said Tekadence CEO, Pete Deemer, and I look forward to leading this pioneering company in the next phase of its growth and success."

Deemer brings to Tekadence more than a decade of leadership experience and success in the high technology and media businesses. Most recently Deemer served as Senior Vice President of the Outbound Media Group of CNET Networks, a division he launched in late 2000 and built into one of the most profitable and fastest-growing of CNET's businesses.

Deemer came to CNET via its acquisition of ZDNet, Inc. in the summer of 2000, where he served as Vice President of Business and Product Management, leading the team of General Managers that directed the ZDNet site and product line. Prior to ZDNet, Deemer was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of SpotMedia Communications, publisher of the award-winning GameSpot. SpotMedia, launched in 1996 and backed by Softbank, achieved both critical success and operating profitability, and was acquired by ZDNet in 1999.

Before SpotMedia, Deemer was employed by technology publisher IDG where, during his three years there, he launched Multimedia World Online and served as Director of Advertising Sales for PC World Online. Prior to that, Deemer worked in the traditional media business, where he served as editor-in-chief of the best-selling "Let's Go: Europe" travel guide, and then as publishing director of the 17-title Lets Go travel guide series.

Since 2000 Deemer has been a lecturer at UC Berkeley's Haas Graduate School of Business, teaching courses in technology business and product strategy, and since 1995 he has been a lecturer at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. Deemer holds a B.A. with honors from Harvard University.
