Borrell Brothers Reunite to Showcase Roots of Cuban Music at San Franciscos SoMarts Cultural Center in April
Visiting Cuban performing artists and the Bay Areas Orquesta la Moderna Tradición will unite in April to lead Latin music fans on a journey through 150 years of the islands music and dance via a series of performances, workshops and parties at the SomArts Cultural Center in San Francisco.

BORRELL BROTHERS REUNITE TO SHOWCASE ROOTS OF CUBAN MUSIC at San Franciscos SoMarts Cultural Center in April
SAN FRANCISCO, March 25, 2002 -- Visiting Cuban performing artists and the Bay Areas Orquesta la Moderna Tradición will unite in April to lead Latin music fans on a journey through 150 years of the islands music and dance via a series of performances, workshops and parties at the SomArts Cultural Center in San Francisco.
Show director Roberto Borrell and Orquesta la Moderna Tradición in association with SomArts will present four theatrical concerts, made possible by a grant from the Creative Work Fund. The events will include the legendary rumbero and singer, Gregorio Hernandez, nicknamed El Goyo," plus two of Robertos brothers and his nephew. The visiting artists will perform with Orquesta la Moderna Tradición and other top Bay Area musicians.
The visit will be the first time the Borrells have performed together in the U. S.

Música Cubana: Roots to Timba
Saturday, April 13 & 20, at 8 p.m.
Sunday, April 14 & 21, at 4 p.m.
$15 in advance and $18 at the door
Four theatrical presentations with live music and dance showing the evolution of the main Cuban music genres.
Música Cubana: Workshops
Wednesday, April 17, 7 p.m., $10 in advance, $12 at the door
Thursday, April 18, 7 p.m., $10 in advance, $12 at the door
Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center, 13108 San Pablo Ave., San Pablo,
Roberto Borrell, orchestra members and the visiting Cuban artists will discuss and perform rumba, danzón and son cubano.
Música Cubana: Party/Descarga
April 21, 7:30 p.m., $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
Tickets to both the Música Cubana show and party are $25.
Cuban music fans can party with the visiting dancers and musicians to live music by the orchestra.
