NETAPHOR announces PDAlert for wireless monitoring of network devices using Pocket PCs

NETAPHOR SOFTWARE, INC. today began selling PDAlert, version 1.0, which uses personal digital assistants (PDAs) to notify network administrators of changes in the status of network devices.

We heard a lot of grumbling from admins who were almost afraid to leave their desks, because they might miss critical events," explains Rakesh Mahajan, Netaphors president. Now that problem is solved. PDAlert provides comprehensive wireless monitoring of printers, SAN switches, digital copiers, routers, switches, servers, UPS units, and more."

PDAlert requires an IEEE 802.11b or other wireless LAN. The appropriate wireless card must be installed in a PDA that runs a Microsofts Windows powered Pocket PC or Pocket PC 2002.

Using PDAlert is easy. The administrator simply runs the application; it automatically discovers devices in the network. The admin can also enter the IP addresses of specific devices. A configuration option permits the monitoring of all or a subset of discovered devices.
PDAlert can be purchased from Netaphors web site at http://www.netaphor.com/products. PDAlert is also sold in an OEM packaging for vendors who wish to redistribute PDAlert with their own product offerings. Resellers/dealer enquiries are also welcome.
