From April 1st 2002 through October 1st 2002 SPL accepts screenplays from screenwriters from around the world. Last year 515 screenplays were submitted. The winning screenplay(s) net their writers a prize package worth over $5,000.00.
Last year's winners saw their screenplays published in book format with cover art by top New York graphic artist Amy Kencik, the creation of custom designed web sites to promote their work, an online promotional campaign that included the e-mailing of over 20,000 press releases to radio and television stations, newspapers and magazines, and other screenplay related websites, an offline campaign that includes mailings to 10,000 book stores, reviewers and libraries and more.
This year the winner will also receive a query letter package that will mail up to 400 query letters to producers specifically looking for the type of script the winners have written.
The SPL Competition is a great way for new screenwriters to get their work noticed. Complete contest rules, prize list and information on this year's judging panel can visit the SPL web site at http://www.screenplaylit.com.
