AHOY MATEYS, THERE BE PIRATES INVADING THE INTERNET
New Web-based fantasy/adventure game is coming soon--and seeks beta testers
San Jose, CA -- For Immediate Release
How many of you remember the classic 1980's game, Taipan? It developed an almost fanatic following, and is still much loved. Even after all this time, Taipan's influence can be felt--it has sparked the impending launch of the new on-line adventure game, Pirate Junk (http://www.piratejunk.com).
Pirate Junk is a multi-level interactive role-playing game that is entirely Web-based. With a fantasy-action-adventure format, it features rich graphics and a fun storyline that takes the player into an exotic 1860's world on and around the South China Sea.
The Pirate Junk concept was conceived by entrepreneur Stephen Oachs. He saw a niche for an easily accessed Internet game that echoed the fun and adventure of the great classic video games. He put together the concept and enlisted the aid of assorted friends, associates and fellow gamesters. The first to join the "crew" were long-time friend and associate, Justin Kelley, who assisted in developing the database and AI, and Cherie' Davidson, who helped create and write the story and game content. Every person Oachs approached enthusiastically "jumped on board."
"The game play is exceptional and challenging. ItŐs really a new adventure every time, because we're always adding new scenarios into the game engine. One of the aspects that we took into consideration during production was to make it fun, yet add educational elements. We've incorporated our historic research to keep game play as parallel to the South China Sea in 1860 as possible," said Oachs. "From the inception, word-of-mouth started to spread, and anticipation for the game is building. It's a classic game concept available on the Internet, and we're very excited about it."
Pirate Junk is scheduled to debut in May 2002, and is currently seeking beta testers. Anyone interested can visit http://www.piratejunk.com and apply on-line.
