MEDIA ALERT

.US REGISTRATION DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR TRADEMARK OWNERS
April 16 Deadline Gives Companies More Time To Secure Their American Internet Identity

BOSTON, MA, April 9, 2002 --EnCirca, Inc. announced today that they would be accepting .US Sunrise applications up to one hour before the new April 16 deadline. The new .US addresses will go live on April 24, 2002. No preference will be given to trademark owners who apply after April 16.

The US Department of Commerce has declared .US to be Americas Official Internet Domain. On April 24, Individuals, organizations and businesses will be able to establish an American identity on the Internet. Internet addresses such as, joepublic.us", pizzashop.us", smithfamily.us", etc. will be available in the .US domain name space.

Through a unique U.S. Nexus requirement, only U.S. citizens or companies with a U.S. presence will be allowed to register .US domains, establishing Americas first-ever exclusive identity on the Internet.

.US domains will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Thus, the best names will go to those who are first in line. Applications must be submitted via an accredited Registrar, such as EnCirca.biz. EnCirca offers a risk free application process. There are no fees for unsuccessful applications.

One of the more popular uses of the domain will be for personal email addresses. Email communication has become essential for conducting business and for maintaining connections to family and friends, and now is the perfect time to establish a permanent email address, as in john@smithfamily.us. We expect competition to be intense for the most popular names," said Thomas Barrett, CEO of EnCirca, Inc.

Due to the dot-com boom and bust cycle of the past decade, people have often found their email service disrupted, either due to company lay-offs, ISP mergers or job changes. As a result, many people experienced a temporary breakdown in their personal online network. Establishing a personal and permanent .US identity will bring an end to these disruptions.

Please visit www.EnCirca.biz for information on Sunrise applications and for pre-registration of .US domain names.
