EFFORT LAUNCHED TO ENCOURAGE THE JEWISH PEOPLE AS ANTI-SEMITISM BUILDS

The Jerusalem Prayer Team is designed to encourage America to regularly pray for the Jewish people, just as Corrie ten Booms family did. The effort will also inform its members of happenings and news that may not be otherwise be available in America.

JERUSALEM Wednesday the 10th of April, 2002 --- One of Americas leading experts on Middle East issues and author of several books on the subject has today announced an initiative to encourage and show support for the Jewish people. The Jerusalem Prayer Team was launched by Michael Evans, executive director of the Corrie ten Boom Fellowship in America and the Corrie ten Boom Foundation in Holland. The effort is designed to encourage America to regularly pray for the Jewish people, just as Corrie ten Booms family did. The effort will also inform its members of happenings and news that may not be otherwise be available in America.

The goal is to encourage 1 million Americans to pray daily for the Jewish people and 100,000 American churches to pray Psalm 122:6, Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" each week until the hostilities cease. Individuals and churches can sign up at www.jerusalemprayerteam.org.

At this time when the Holy Land is torn by terrorism and threats of war, all who believe in the God of the Bible should heed His instruction to 'pray for the peace of Jerusalem," Evans said. We are encouraging efforts that will lead to a lasting peace-both political and spiritual. In the spirit of the late Corrie ten Boom, a Christian who hid Jews in her fathers clock shop during German occupation of Holland in World War II, we encourage Christians of all persuasions to step forward and do their part now for the Jewish people as they are now experiencing the greatest amount of persecution and anti-Semitism around the world since the days of Nazi Germany."

The Corrie ten Boom Fellowships effort is joined by 200 of Americas most influential Christian leaders, including Dr. Tim LaHaye, Dr. E. V. Hill, Dr. Pat Robertson, Pat Boone, Steven Strang, Dr. John C. Maxwell, Dr. John Hagee, Dr. Mac Brunson, Tommy Tenney, Rev. John A Kilpatrick, and Dr. Jack Graham. Evans cites as their motivation the scripture, Through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Jesus Christ." (Ephesians 2:6 NIV).

An Internet website has been developed to inform and enlist members of this effort. It is www.jerusalemprayerteam.org. Mike Evans, also a field reporter for several international news services, is available now for informative interviews about the events in the Middle East.
