Logos & Phytopharm achieve great results using Smart Patient Diary Card in P57 Obesity Study

Logos Technologies Smart Patient Diary Card was chosen by Phytopharm PLC to collect patient trial data in a clinical study of the investigational appetite suppressant product P57.

SPDC was chosen by Phytopharm to provide a secure and reliable data capture device and to increase study compliance. The device which can record Visual Analogue Scales was well accepted by clinical staff and patients

The data collected using SPDC has provided great results for Phytopharm," said Giles Wilson, Business Development Director at Logos Technologies. SPDC has been designed so that a study can be configured very quickly thus saving the sponsor many additional days prior to study start. Data collected is clean, validated and available immediately at study completion".

The assessments recorded during the study included an appetite questionnaire," said Rob Grover, Medical Director of Phytopharm. SPDC enabled us to collect these data using electronic Visual Analogue Scales, both before and after eating. SPDC completely removed the errors and time consuming process involved when measuring visual analogue scales manually".

The results of the study demonstrated a 35% reduction in calorie intake over the 15 day dosing period in the treatment group. This success saw Phytopharms share price rise by 27%. Similarly, the success has again demonstrated the benefit in using Logos validated and proven solution.
