Korean Information Security Agency Purchases Hardware Security Modules from Chrysalis-ITS for Key Management


Ottawa, Ontario -- April 16, 2002 - Chrysalis-ITS, an established provider of hardware security modules (HSMs) for e-business, today announced its products have been purchased for use in information security initiatives and projects for the Korean government, including the Korean Information Security Agency (KISA).

Working with partner BCQRE, a leading Korean information security firm, Chrysalis-ITS has delivered hardware security products for key protection and management to KISA, which operates Koreas root Certificate Authority, and will also provide HSMs and SSL acceleration hardware for other Korean security projects such as KTNet for B2B trading, and the eAsia marketplace" initiative to drive cross border trade between Korea and Japan.

Chrysalis-ITS is further broadening deployment of its products in Korea to ensure success as the leading supplier of hardware cryptographic products in East Asia. Chrysalis-ITS HSMs, which are Identrus Compliant and the worldwide de facto standard for protecting private encryption keys and accelerating cryptographic functions, will include support for Korean security algorithms SEED and KCDSA to support growing customer demand.

As 42 per cent of Koreans are connected to the Internet, ahead of Taiwan, Hong Kong and China, Korea is poised to become the next Internet security frontrunner in Asia. In addition, the Korean market for PKI products and CA services is expected to be $60 million this year.
