Baskin-Robbins Announces a Round-Up of New Treats for DreamWorks Pictures Summer Release of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Baskin-Robbins today announced it will rein-in the summer season with a variety of flavorful treats for a promotional partnership with DreamWorks Pictures release of the animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
Spirit is a breathtaking film about freedom, adventure, courage and the love of family," said Joe Adney, senior director, marketing for Baskin-Robbins. From innovative Spirit-themed ice cream flavors and cakes to a sundae and color-changing shakes, Baskin-Robbins will premiere a wild array of treats in stores from April 15th through June 16th including:
· SMore Spirit (May/June Flavor of the Month): A majestic blend of Chocolate and Toasted Marshmallow Mousse ice creams loaded with graham cracker pieces and chocolate flakes. This flavor combines all the sweet goodness of the classic campfire treat!
· Wild 'N Reckless Spirit (May/June Flavor of the Month): A thundering swirl of Green Apple, Blue Raspberry and Fruit Punch sherbets. Together, these vibrant colors mirror Spirits untamed nature and the sweeping plains, roaring rivers and towering mountains pictured within the movie.
· Cimarron Sundae: A treat any horse-lover would love, this sundae features a scoop of SMore Spirit ice cream and is topped with hot fudge, whipped cream and a vanilla Spirit" cookie.
· Spirits Swirlin Shakes: Go wild by turning your milkshake into colors straight from a Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron movie scene! This delicious Vanilla ice cream shake is accompanied with color-changing cookie pieces that when stirred in, swirl into one of two colors: Blue Sky or Purple Mountain.
Baskin-Robbins is inviting customers to visit their participating stores nationwide during Free Scoop Night" on Wednesday, May 1, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., to try the new Spirit-themed ice creams or other flavors of choice. For every scoop served during this event, Baskin-Robbins will make a donation to Washington, D.C.-based First Book, a national nonprofit organization that provides free, new books to children from low-income families. DreamWorks will also make a donation to First Book in support of childrens literacy.
In addition to the Spirit-themed products, Baskin-Robbins will team-up with Loews Cineplex Entertainment Theaters by providing a grand prize for Loews' Spring Blast Ice Cream For Movies online sweepstakes. Consumers can register for a chance to win a trip for two to the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron premiere, advanced screening passes to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron at a Loews Cineplex theater, a one-year pass to any Loews Cineplex theater or Baskin-Robbins ice cream for a year. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron follows the adventures of a wild and rambunctious mustang stallion as he journeys through the untamed American frontier. Encountering man for the first time, Spirit defies being broken, even as he develops a remarkable friendship with a young Lakota brave named Little Creek. The courageous young stallion also finds love with a beautiful paint mare named Rain on his way to becoming one of the greatest unsung heroes of the Old West.
Academy Award® winner Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting) provides first-person narration for the title character. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron also features the voices talents of Academy Award® nominee James Cromwell (Babe), who plays a Cavalry Colonel determined to break this defiant mustang; and Native American actor Daniel Studi, who is the voice of Little Creek.
The traditionally animated feature film is directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook and produced by Mireille Soria and Jeffrey Katzenberg from a screenplay by John Fusco. The music is by Academy Award®-winning composer Hans Zimmer (The Lion King), with songs performed by Grammy winner and three-time Oscar® nominee Bryan Adams (The Mirror Has Two Faces, Don Juan DeMarco, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves).
