Systems Made Simple aids NAPHSIS and SSA in Improving Customer Service and Homeland Security

Systems Made Simple to build nationwide internet application for Social Security Administration for secure birth and death verification.

Systems Made Simple (SMS) was selected by the National Association of Public Health Statistics & Information Systems (NAPHSIS) under contract with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to aid in their battle to improve customer service while reducing identity fraud and supporting homeland security. SMS was chosen by NAPHSIS from a large group of the nations leading high-tech consulting companies." Delton Atkinson, Executive Director of NAPHSIS said. The system to be developed by SMS will enable the SSA to verify highly sensitive birth and death information from individual state databases for persons seeking SSA benefits. It will enable a secure flow of information to any SSA remote location. A key component of this project is the definition and development of a Vital Event Transaction (VET). The VET transaction is intended to be a standard for authorized agencies to exchange vital records and vital statistics. Ronald S.
