WALTHILL FRESHMAN INVITED TO NATIONAL BASKETBALL COMPETITION

Freshman at Omaha reservation to compete in national athletics festival.

WALTHILL, NE --- Walthill Freshman Marlon WhiteEyes recently received an invitation to participate in the USA Junior Nationals Championship Sports Festival in Columbus, OH.
   Marlon, who is 15 and lives in Macy, NE, was invited because of his outstanding performance" at the state level, according to USA Junior Nationals officials. He will compete with young athletes from 34 states during the week-long festival July 8-14.
   To qualify for the national competition, Marlon had to demonstrate advanced skills, team leadership, competitive spirit, and good sportsmanship at the state level. The festivals goal is to provide an opportunity for young athletes to improve their basketball talent through competition at the state, national, and international level.
   Scott Frost of the Greenbay Packers helped Marlon raise the funds to compete in the state competition. Frost is the son of Walthill Superintendent Larry Frost and math and science teacher Carol Frost. Marlons family and friends are currently organizing a series of fundraisers to finance his trip to Columbus.
