Mediabolic Hosts Interoperability Forum with Leaders in the Consumer Electronics, Semiconductor, and Personal Computer Market.
Participants in the Forum include Pioneer Corporation (NASDAQ: PIO), Compaq Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CPQ), Denon, Ltd., Cirrus Logic Inc.(NASDAQ: CRUS) and other manufacturers of consumer electronics products.
Tokyo, Japan -- (April 17, 2002) -- Mediabolic, Inc. announced that it is hosting a forum that enables leading consumer electronics, personal computer, and semiconductor companies to cooperate to define desired levels of interoperability among products, and pool marketing resources in order to reduce development costs and quickly release compelling entertainment products. The first Interoperability Forum meeting is being held on April 17, 2002 in Tokyo, Japan and includes attendees from over a dozen companies. We think it is great that Mediabolic is seeking guidance from industry leaders on their future technology," says Mike Brown Compaqs Director Entertainment Products, Consumer Group. This Forum helps us ensure interoperability across industries and to accelerate consumer acceptance of new technology."
The Mediabolic ONE platform implements support for open standards such as UPnP, RTP/RTSP, HTTP, and TCP/IP. It empowers stand-alone and connected devices to share media, use common interfaces, and to interoperate in a seamless manner. Cirrus history of leadership in providing next generation audio technologies has shown us that consumers require simple, reliable interconnect solutions for electronics in the home," says Lew Paceley, vice president, Crystal Products Division, Cirrus Logic. Only by working together in forums such as this can we create the interoperability that will drive the digital entertainment revolution." The Mediabolic ONE platform can be embedded in cost effective platforms with very low memory requirements. Mediabolic has announced versions of its platform available for the IBM STB04xxx and STB03xxx, Cirrus Logic 7312, and the National Semiconductor Geode platforms.
Pioneer showcased its Digital Library products powered by the Mediabolic ONE platform at the 2002 Consumer Electronics Show in January of this year. The Digital Library makes the connected home entertainment experience a reality," says Chris Walker, New Business Development Manager for Pioneer Electronics, USA. Compaq Computer Corporation also demonstrated products based on the Mediabolic ONE platform, the Home Entertainment Web, at the 2002 Consumer Electronics Show and more recently on CNN.
Early adopters of the Mediabolic One platform indicated a desire to work with other licensees to define and implement interoperability among Mediabolic-powered devices, across manufacturers. Mr. Takaji Yamano, Representative Director of Denon., Ltd. says "I believe that digital home network will bring a new future to both the consumer and to DENON." As a result, Mediabolic has formed the Interoperability Forum so that proponents and licensees of the Mediabolic technology have a venue for defining the level of desired interoperability with products from other Forum participants, certifying their products to work with those of other participants and sharing a logo that signifies interoperability. This venue will also enable them to learn about networked products coming to market and compelling new hardware reference designs. With a strong show of support from leading companies in each of the consumer electronics, semiconductor, and personal computer fields," says Daniel Putterman, CEO of Mediabolic, we are offering common middleware and services to ensure that products based on Mediabolic ONE will provide the best experience for the consumer."
