Two new UK agency agreements will allow Finishing Techniques to make one-stop shopping a reality for UK jewellery and craft manufacturers. There are even new machines with retail appeal.

   A full range of Siro Lasertec equipment for precision welding and engraving of fine pieces is now available through the company. All machines are manufactured to the usual high German standards and offer users great control over the welding or engraving process. AL and SL series allow pulse energy settings from 0.05 to 120 joules, pulse duration of 0.5 to 20 milliseconds and a beam diameter of 0.2 to 2 millimetres. Mechanical or motorised focus machines are available.

   The compact Siro Lasertec Firescan is an all in one laser marking system that will appeal to both jewellery makers and to retailers wanting to offer a quality engraving service. Firescan is controlled by a standard PC with easy to use marking software that is supplied. The high beam quality produces, graphics, bar codes and logos up to 1000dpi resolution. Inside and outside engraving, deep marking, black engraving, inscriptions on hollow pieces are all easy to perform.

   From Yasui, Finishing Techniques, will be offering vacuum pressure casting and vacuum wax injection machines. The K series equipment is designed for oxidation-free casting with good filling and ductility qualities. They even make stone in place casting an easy process. Parameters for casting different metals can be pre-set in memory for easy recall and to ensure repeatability. Accumulated casting data can be used to fine tune setting if required. Memory contents can be output on an optional printer and there is also an optional shot maker.
