"1000 COMPUTER DISTRIBUTION PROJECT" AT FREEBYTES IN ATLANTA,GA

FREEBYTES INSTITUTING "1000 COMPUTER PROJECT" TO REFURBISH AND REDISTRIBUTE COMPUTERS WHICH MIGHT OTHERWISE HAVE IMPACTED NEGATIVELY UPON THE ENVIRONMENT.WHAT BETTER DAY THAN EARTH DAY TO FOCUS UPON THIS PROJECT?

Are you or the company for which you work an unwitting or unwilling collector of outdated or non-working computer comonents? If you want to rid your house and home of these oversized paperweights, but don't want to merely toss them into a landfill,Freebytes is actively seeking computer donations to provide to children's programs, churches, and other non-profit organizations through our "1000 Computer Distribution Project".

Each year over 50 million computers are retired in the United States alone. Due to the rapid acceleration of technology, the average computer's lifespan has been cut to two years. These units obviously have life left to give;yet fewer than 8% of them are either reused or recycled. The rest are tucked away in storage or carelessly sent to their untimely demise inside a landfill. Out of sight, out of mind? Not exactly.Computers contain lead, mercury, and cadmium, all dangerous materials that are subsequently being introduced into our water table and into the water we drink. Solid Waste authorities estimate that nearly 40% of all lead in municipal landfills comes from computers and other electronic equipment. To put this in greater perspective, lead is widely known to cause nervous system disorders and neurologic dysfunction in children.Started by a few pioneering junior high school students in 1992,Freebytes NP,Inc. is a non-profit group headquartered in Atlanta,GA.Our mission is twofold:to curtail the amount of hazardous material entering our landfills, and to supply non-profits with the technology needed to better achieve their goals.Freebytes has provided over 4000 computers to over 600 non-profit organizations, including homeless shelters,after-school programs, safe houses, children's counseling centers, and many other groups that help positively shape our communities.

So before you haul that old 486 PC,Macintosh Performa,or rolled-paper fax machine out to the curb, remember that FreeBytes will accept all of your unwanted electronic equipment whether it's working or not.Depending upon its condition and age,it'll be refurbished and redistributed or recycled.Either way, your equipment will find a home of greater benefit. You can reach us by calling (404)846-8414 or sending an email to donations@freebytes.net.
