Lewis & Clark Trail offered on A&E Networks Travel Program

The A&E Television Networks, including A&E, Biography, The History Channel and Geneology, are offering Shebby Lee Tours' Lewis & Clark Trail tour program on their websites as a part of an expanded special interest tour programs.

Shebby Lee Tours, a Rapid City, SD-based tour operator, has been selected by A&E Television Networks to provide special interest tour programs for all its travel websites. Visited by over 2 million unique visitors per month, the network includes A&E, Biography, The History Channel and Geneology. Tours can be booked directly on the websites, or interested parties may request more information electronically.

Over the past 24 years Shebby Lee Tours has developed unique interpretive programs in the western United States and Canada. "These programs allow participants to experience first-hand the sites where the pivotal events of the history of the West actually took place", says Shebby Lee, President of Shebby Lee Tours.

For example, the Lewis & Clark Trail features living history, special speakers and events, authentic meals, Lewis & Clark interpretive centers, historic sites and boat rides on the Missouri River. From the opening night serenade by a Fife & Drum Corps, to encounters with "members" of the Corps of Discovery, to an ongoing Lewis & Clark trivia game onboard the deluxe motorcoach, participants are immersed in the epic journey from St. Louis to Astoria. The coach even sports a 15-star flag identical to the ones Captains Lewis & Clark presented to Native chiefs along the route of their 1804-1806 exploration.

With the 200th anniversary of the Corps of Discoverys epic journey approaching (2003-2006) interest is growing in what Thomas Jefferson called one of the greatest adventures in American history. This years departure dates are July 13 and August 13 for a 16 day/15 night journey.

Information on the Lewis & Clark Trail or any of the Vanishing Trails Expeditions can also be obtained from Shebby Lee Tours at PO Box 1032, Rapid City, SD 57709, or call 800-888-8306. E-mail: sheb19@rapidnet.com. www.shebbyleetours.com.

Shebby Lee Tours is a member of the National Tour Association and has been specializing in historic and cultural heritage tours of the Great American West since 1978. The Vanishing Trails Expeditions were introduced in 1993 with the Oregon Trail and have grown to include the Old West Trail, American Legacy, Santa Fe Trail, Nez Perce Trail, Nevadas Living Ghost Towns and Siouxland: The Dakota Conflict. Shebby Lee Tours Lewis & Clark Trail was designated as official American Pathways 2000 itinerary by the United States Department of Commerces office of Tourism Industries.
