LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY --- A Matter of Time" could not be more appropriate as a theme for the 2002 International ideaFestival scheduled for September 18-21, 2002 in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. After all, the event, celebrating the human gifts of innovation and creativity, occurs in the midst of a time of growth and change for its host city, Lexington, Kentucky.

Festival organizer Kris Kimel, President of Intelligent Change Initiatives, Inc., was joined by Lexington Mayor Pam Miller, University of Kentucky President Lee Todd, and Joanne Lang of Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC) in a press conference to reveal details of four days of very special events spread throughout downtown Lexington and focused on something so uniquely human: Time.

I believe most new and inventive ideas start with a conversation" said Dr. Todd, a founder of the KSTC. That's what the ideaFestival is all about - bringing individual thinking from multiple disciplines together to generate a synergy of discussion and innovation. This event links the talents and capabilities of scholars with those of people living and working outside of the academic world, unleashing a higher plane of thinking,
learning and problem solving. ideaFestival is truly a new way to dream."

The ideaFestival offers everyone opportunities to stretch the imagination while gaining new perspectives on that most fundamental of human creations: time -- from a conversation with New York Times Chief Classical Music critic, Anthony Tommasini, about the interplay between time and music and the unusual and timeless music of the MASS Ensembles gigantic, seven-story Earth Harp," to an exciting journey through our modern understanding of time and space led by Brian Greene, bestselling author of The Elegant Universe."
