Testing against Inhalation Anthrax Show Positive Results

McCLELLAN, Calif., April 29, 2002 - Evit Labs, Inc. and NovaCal Pharmaceuticals, LLC, had previously announced a joint development agreement for the advancement of NVC101 solution, as an inhaled antimicrobial, delivered by the Sonik LDI (sonic liquid dispensing inhaler) for possible use against certain pulmonary infections. Under contract, the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL), Center for Environmental Biotechnology, in Berkeley CA, has performed the initial proof of concept screening of NVC101 against B. anthracis strains and S. pneumoniae cells with positive results. Other potential uses of the Sonik LDIÔ with NVC101 for pulmonary applications are being explored through the joint efforts of EVIT and NovaCal.

The Sonik LDI is new technology platform for the sonic aerosolization of liquid pharmaceuticals, anti-bodies, proteins and peptides in a small, non-electrical, portable device.

NVC101 is a proprietary antimicrobial and noncytotoxic solution designed and developed for the prophylaxis and treatment of topical infections in chronic wounds.
